Writing things down can take different forms and can affect different people in different ways. The good news is that there is research that suggests that the mere act of WRITING things down affects memory. The crazy making happens when what we write down starts to control us more than listening to our bodies.

What do I mean? It’s one thing to write down, “My goal is XYZ number of steps per day,” and another thing to let that number worry you, stress you out, increase feelings of guilt or stress, or inspire you to walk past injury or sickness.
