Daily Movement Prompts, Thursday, December 1, 2016 edition:
How are your hands today? Floreos have so much more to them than you might think at first glance. When doing a floreo on the midline, it is important to notice the lifted elbow, the relaxed shoulder, and a smooth figure-eight movement of the wrist that lifts the wrist rather than dropping the fingers. When doing floreos overhead, imagine the line of your arm going completely out the end of the fingers, keeping the floreo long and tall. When the arms are in different positions, the floreo still moves equally on both hands, regardless which is up or down.
Have you spent any time watching your floreos lately? Stretch, rehearse, repeat. STRETCH and be certain your forearms are ready to dance, too.
