Daily Movement Prompts, Monday, January 23, 2017: Dealing with Old Voices
Recently, I have had several conversations with friends about “old voices in your head” and survival techniques for dealing with them. When someone quits smoking, they might deal with either the habit of lighting up or the habit of purchasing more cigarettes. When I quit the last time, I would tell myself, “Don’t know why you are suggesting a cigarette, I am a nonsmoker.” When I worked on the various impulses from my eating disorder, I would tell myself, “I don’t do diets or weight loss.” It doesn’t always work, but it is my current message to myself.
How do you deal with the old voices that try to hold you back? What ideas do you need help with?
